FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR 2015-16 YEAR!
|
|
May 29, 2015
Dear SES Moose,
For our 3rd Wednesday this month, our school was treated to another wonderful and heart warming music concert. Ms. Chris and our students presented a delightful production of “Songs from Around the World”. Students sang, danced, acted and played musical instruments. Folk songs from the United States, Russia, Chile, Ireland, China, Africa, and many other special places in our world were shared. The audience loved the finale—a whole school dance number to a contemporary hip-hop song, “Uptown Funk”. Bravo to the performers and their special teacher!
Our halls are adorned with painting, weaving, pottery, sculpture, drawing, and imagination! EveLynn has spent countless hours preparing our SES 2015 Art Show. Students proudly showed families their special art pieces. Something particularly interesting to notice within the art, is the many cross-curricular ties that EveLynn has tried to incorporate into art time with what students are engaged in within the classroom. Beautiful work, everyone!
As we approach our final THREE WEEKS of school (last day is June 19th), we have many things to look forward to. Field Day (8th), 6th grade portfolios (4th and 5th) and graduation (18th), a second grade Poetry Walk (4th and 5th) and other culminating activities will all be occurring.
On Thursday the SES staff was treated to a DELICIOUS "Staff Appreciation Luncheon" put on by the Shutesbury PTO and many SES families. There were so many tasty dishes ranging from pasta salad, veggies, meatballs, pesto and other savory treats. There were also lots of items for those of us with a sweet tooth! Many staff members were treated to a 15-minute massage by two professional masseuses! THANK YOU PTO, families, and especially Ann Shea for this very special event.
As always, thanks for all of the family and community support for our students, teachers and school events inside and outside of school. Our students are so very lucky.

SES Staff Interview of the Week!
Andrea Darby!
JM: What are two things that you love about SES?
AD: I love that the children come to school excited about learning. I also love that my colleagues really like to think about children and we spend a lot of time learning together about how to best teach our children.
JM: When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
AD: I wanted to be a movie star and I wanted to own an orphanage.
JM: If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
AD: Peaches. I could die eating peaches. Summer peaches.
