Dear Moose Community,

This edition of the RTN comes to you on Thursday! Students do not have school tomorrow, as teachers from Union 28 gather together for Curriculum Day. Teachers will be working together on the newly approved science standards as well as understandings around Universal Design for Learning (also referred to as UDL).

This week our school was treated to the wonderful Apple Store! This is not a store for our computers, iPhones and iPads-- but a traditional fundraiser for the 5th and 6th graders. Students and families of grades 5 and 6 baked delicious apple treats. These treats were sold on Monday and Tuesday to our students, staff and bus drivers. WOW, were they delicious! Thanks to the 5th and 6th graders for making the treats - and to everyone else for buying them.

The fall Book Fair begins at school on Monday 10/24. Students may bring in money next week to purchase a book from the fair. There will also be a family night for the Book Fair on Wednesday October 26th from 5:30-7:30! The school receives money  as a result of the book fair. This money is spent on purchasing new and high interest books for our school library.

This is a reminder that Vocabulary Costume Day is next Friday, October 28th. We have included a letter and information around Vocabulary Costume Day in the last few RTN editions. We have included it again. Students should be brainstorming strong and unique vocabulary words in class and at home. Their costume should help their chosen word come alive. Please refer to the letter attached for more specific information.

Special announcement! Effective January 1, 2017 our breakfast and lunch prices will be raised. SES is proud of the delicious and healthy food that is offered to our school community. To continue to offer this service, breakfast will be raised to $1.75/day. Lunch will be raised to $2.75/day for students and $3.75/day for adults.

We have finalized our Artist in Residence this year! In December our students will have the experience of working with and learning from Circus Smirkus performers! For the week of December 12-16th students will receive 4 classes from a trained circus artist. The residency will end with an exhibition of skills on the evening of December 16th. Mark your calendars now! We are so excited to bring this opportunity to our students.

There is an EXTRA early release next Thursday due to parent/guardian conferences!
