Upcoming Events

Dear Moose,

We raised $575.00 and two very large boxes of diapers (in one week!) for the children affected by the Hurricanes in Texas. THANK YOU to the families, students and teachers that contributed to this work. The diapers are being shipped to a Texas diaper bank by Andrea Darby. Jen Culbreth is taking the change to the bank to be transferred into a check to benefit the Houston Public Schools. Thank you to the 6th graders who counted and organized the change and money! What an amazing community effort. The winning prize from the Penny Score Challenge was..... PJ and Movie Day! The students enjoyed this treat this afternoon.

Grades 5 and 6 showed great perseverance, teamwork and strength on their field trip to Morse Hilon Monday! The students came back with smiles full of pride. They climbed ropes and some even conquered the "Sasquatch".

This past weekend many families and PTO members helped and volunteered at Celebrate Shutesbury. It was wonderful to see so many Shutesbury students and families enjoying the beautiful day and participating in fun activities. Thank you to those who supported this!

I want to remind families again that our OPEN HOUSE format is different this year. We have decided as a staff that we felt it was important to include students in this evening. From 6:00-6:30 pm on September 27th families may come to school and visit classrooms and teachers. There will be some activities and information in the classroom and families can meet the teachers. At 6:30, families and students will gather in the gym to have a welcome back assembly. PTO and School Committee representatives will speak to the community and I will share a few words as well. We hope to see you all there!

School Council has an opening for a parent and community representative. School Council is a group of school community members comprised of teachers, parents, administration and community members. We work as a team to write the School Improvement Plan, obtain information from a school survey and to examine school practices. Over the years we have held forums, written plans, developed philosophies and collected feedback. The Council usually meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 3:30-4:30 pm. If we have several people interested, there will need to be a vote by the school community at Open House. At Open House, the candidates get to address the community verbally or in writing to indicate why they are interested and how they could support the work. If you are interested in being a part of School Council, please  send me an email at .

Have a fabulous weekend!
