NO SCHOOL. Winter Break.
Hello Moose Community!
We are a week into the month of December and the temperatures are proof that we are on a quick track toward winter. Thank you for attending to the weather appropriate clothing needs of your children! We usually go outside unless it is below 14 degrees with the wind chill so bundling up is important. Oh, Shutesbury in the winter....
On Tuesday, December 18 our music teacher, Ms. Berube, will be hosting a Family Folk Dance Night! See the attached flyer for more information on this fun event. You do not need to know how to folk dance in order to attend. The students are the experts and will show you everything you need to know. There will also be a bake sale that night to benefit our music program. If you are willing to bake please email Hannah at [email protected]. We are so looking forward to this!
Our winter break begins on Monday, December 24 and we will return to school on Wednesday, January 2.
Warmly,
Jackie
***SCHOOL NEWS***
Happy Holidays Shutesbury Community! We just concluded our Thanksgiving Games with all of our classes, with a student favorite, the Turkey Gladiator Run. In this activity the offensive team has to travel through an obstacle course on their way to the magical turkey forest. In this forest, every Thanksgiving is always celebrated with tofu. The turkey team has to avoid trees (obstacles), follow the path, and evade the throwers. As with so many of our games, we focused on strategies and our core values. It was interesting to see how each individual had unique thoughts of where to run, hide, dive, and dodge. We had many top ten ESPN moments that will never be seen, but the students were incredibly elusive as they made their way across the gymnasium while avoiding the throwers! Additionally, this unit was perfect for reflecting on the value of gratitude. I am so very grateful to be part of this Shutesbury team, and to help our amazing students continue to live happy, and healthy active lives.
Play often and stay strong.
Sincerely,
Mr. Steven A. Carra
***MOOSE INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK***
WILL FROM PRESCHOOL!
JCB: What is your favorite thing about school?
WMB: Playing outside when it’s recess.
JCB: What do you like to do outside?
WMB: Play ninja. Sometimes when it’s winter there’s like this little snow pile. There’s a little slide that we get to the basement and that’s the training room.
JCB: What is your favorite food?
WMB: Hot dogs with ketchup.
JCB: What is your favorite book?
WMB: Wolf Ninja book. Well there’s like this wolf and there’s a sign no wolves allowed and there’s a wolf in that forest.
JCB: What is your favorite thing to do at home?
WMB: Play with my Legos. Sometimes I build from the instructions and sometime I don’t.
JCB: If you could be any animal, what animal would you be and why?
WMB: Um, tiger. ‘Cause that’s my spirit animal.
