Dear Moose,

Once again, we are finishing out a shorter week due to the snow. Your child will be coming home with a report card today. Teachers at SES spend hours ensuring that each child has an accurate and meaningful report card. If you have questions regarding the report card, please contact your child's teacher to schedule a time to talk about your questions or concerns.

We wish all families a safe and fun February vacation. When we see students back at school in 2 weeks, we will be ready to welcome March in.

6 Year Old Girl Does Double Flip in the Air While Eating Cheese at a Family Reunion Talent Show!

JCB:  What is your favorite thing to do at school?
EE:  Go to Nurse Sandy because she has books that I can read while she’s checking me.

JCB:  What do you like to do when you’re at home?
EE:  Do Kid Pix on the computer.  Kid Pix is something where you can make abstract art.  There’s paint, text tool, etcetera.  There’s a lot.  Remember that little octagon or circle and you click on it and he says something and my favorite thing that the man in the blue circle says is, “I gotta muck.”

JCB:  What is your favorite food?
EE:  Chocolate chip cookies.

JCB:  If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?
EE:  Make a law for eating candy first thing in the morning which would be fun for the kids…if I was Kid President!

JCB:  What would you like  to be when you grow up?
EE:  A teacher.

JCB:  What kind of training do you need for that?
EE:  I do have the training already.  Practice playing school with your stuffies or mom and dad.

EE:  I think you forgot to ask me one thing.  What do I like to do best with my daddy?
JCB:  Okay, what do you like to do best with your daddy?
EE:  Practice karate!  We do karate battles!  (See photo.)

We will be celebrating the day throughout the school and in the library. Students are invited to wear:  silly socks, styles of dress in the Dr. Seuss fashion, Dr. Seuss silly hairstyles…

If you would like to be a “Guest Reader” for the day, and read a Dr. Seuss book to a class, please contact: Ms. Larson at 1-413-259-1212 ext. 125 or

Dear SES Families,

This spring the fifth grade class is beginning a project investigating the life and work of scientists. In preparing for this project we are reaching out to the wider SES community requesting contacts of scientists that you know that might be a great fit to add to our list.

We are looking for scientists who love their work and are passionate about sharing it with the next generation. With the support of technology and the wonderful Ms. Lee and Ms. L, we are interested in scientists that not only live and work locally, but globally. Ideally, the scientist would be available to communicate with our budding scientists from April to June via letters, email, Skype/Facetime and phone.

Please share any and all contacts by emailing me at Thank you in advance to helping to bring even more collaboration, critical thinking and real life projects into our wonderful school!
