Dear Moose,

My bucket is overflowing from the amazing generosity and spirit of our school community. Over the course of this week, lots of diapers, wipes, change and bills have been collected in support of children in hardship from the hurricanes. We have not been able to count the money yet to determine the winning prize of 'Pajama and Movie Day' or 'Ice Cream and Extra Recess'. The winner will be announced next week and the prize will occur next Friday. THANK YOU for the support from home in this work.

I want to remind families again that our OPEN HOUSE format is different this year. We have decided to include students in this evening. From 6:00-6:30 pm on September 27th families may come to school and visit classrooms and teachers. There will be some activities and information in the classroom and families can meet the teachers. At 6:30 families and students will gather in the gym to have a welcome back assembly. PTO and School Committee representatives will speak to the community and I will share a few words as well. We hope to see you all there!

School Council has an opening for a parent and community representative. School Council is a group of school community members comprised of teachers, parents, administration and community members. We work as a team to write the School Improvement Plan, obtain information from a school survey and to examine school practices. Over the years we have held forums, written plans, developed philosophies and collected feedback. The council usually meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 3:30-4:30 pm. If we have several people interested, there will need to be a vote by the school community at Open House. At Open House, the candidates get to address the community verbally or in writing to indicate why they are interested and how they could support the work. If you are interested in being a part of School Council, please send me an email at [email protected] .

Next week grades 5 and 6 are off to Morse Hill for an exciting team building and ropes course excursion. We can't wait to hear about this adventure!

Thank you for your continued support. SES is truly an amazing place to learn and grow.

Jackie
